Born and raised in Hong Kong as a bicultural Japanese-Chinese and later pursued an art education in New York City, I developed a set of aesthetics and approach to art making that merged out of the philosophies from all the influences in my journey. From representational, figurative, abstract, to conceptual art, I find the fluidity and transience amongst all forms of art making most liberating to an artist in a quest for her own voice.
I believe that art should be a space unique to each person creating it. However, creating a structure to explore freely is necessary to facilitate and develop the visual instincts and perception to understand the language of art. I teach life drawings, painting with various mediums, abstract painting, and composition of an image. Currently I'm located in the northeastern side of Hong Kong island. My lessons emphasize on both the intuition of artmaking as well as a critical consideration of formal issues that pertain to creating an image. Read less
