Hello! I'm in the Aurora area and I will be focusing on English. It can be reading, writing or both. I tutor math as well, but I’m more concerned with work you will need in life after school.

I have worked in the EQAO grades three and six, since the testing started. Prior to that I mainly taught the intermediate grades. I have reading recovery training and I’m familiar with later literacy programs used in the older grades.
I enjoy tutoring. I have worked with teachers (and tutors as a teacher) and used the curriculum to develop the basic skills needed for school and life.
My school always allowed our students to come and ask for help with their high school work if they had trouble after they graduated. As a result, I have experience teaching essay writing at all grade levels. I constantly evaluate myself and lessons to make sure I improve and become a better tutor.

I want you to do your best. If you enjoy what you're doing, work hard, I know I can help you do better. I do my best to make work fun. First, I like to start with building confidence (writing) activities. When working with young children I like to add a topic they're interested in, but may not be covered in school to assess for mastery. I love science and have been known to use it to help with math or language. It also makes tutoring more fun if you have something to look forward to. My goal is for you "to not need me anymore." I was trained by the ministry via my school board and I helped introduce EQAO testing at both the board and school level. I'm very pleased with my classes' performances, the techniques I use are the same I use when I tutor. I look forward to hearing from you. :) Read less
