I Like To Start By Finding Out What Are The Issues The Student Is Experiencing And Where He/she Is In Relation To The Particular Curriculum (class Material). If Someone Experiences Problems Understanding A Significant Portion Of The Curriculum, I Like To Begin With Basics And Use Them As A Scaffold For More Complex Concepts. It Is Always Easier To Build On Solid Foundations. There Is No Place For Blind Memorisation Of Terms - One Needs To Understand The Principles Behind Them. If A Student Comes To Me With A Specific Problem, But Otherwise Has A Pretty Solid Understanding Of The Material, We Can Work On That As Well. Important To Remember Is: There Are No Stupid Questions. The More One Asks, The More One Ultimately Knows And Understands...and Hopefully Also Remembers. Read less
