I obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education in 1994 (Specialisation in teaching the English Language and Biology/Science at Secondary School Level) from National Institute of Education/ Nanyang Technological University after I graduated from the National University of Singapore. Overall I have more than ten years of English Language teaching experience - three years of teaching in a Singapore secondary school, two years of freelance English teaching in language centres, tuition centres, a higher institution and five years of full-time teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in private schools. My target students range from primary to tertiary levels. I began my teaching career in a Singapore secondary School in 1994 where I taught English from Secondary One to GCE 'O' Level. I collaborated closely with my colleagues in devising the Scheme of Work and fine-tuning the Special Instructional Objectives (SIOs) meant for the lower and upper secondary levels. As a team, we implemented a skills-based teaching approach from elementary to advanced levels. The three years of teaching gave me a good grounding in lesson delivery and curriculum planning. I have a strong passion for teaching English as a First and Second Language to students from diverse cultural backgrounds. After my three-year full-time teaching in the Singapore government school, I took on English Language teaching assignments from elementary to advanced levels at Hua Language Centre, Syscom Language Centre, and the Centre of English Language and Communication (National University of Singapore). I am very passionate about teaching English to local and international students of all ages and keen to help my learners increase their English proficiency. In the course of my teaching career, I enjoy interacting with children, teenagers and young adults and do my best to research suitable lesson materials. A student-centred teaching approach is definitely my focus in teaching.

Mr Yeo has been a Primary School teacher in Singapore since 2005. He scored A grades for his PSLE English Language, ‘O’ Level English Language and ‘A’ Level General Paper Examinations. He graduated from the National Institute of Education / Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelors of Science in Education(Honours) specialising in teaching English Language and Physical Education. He has taught students of ages 7 to 13 in schools and prepared them for the Primary School Leaving Examinations for English Language. He has also been an exam invigilator for the PSLE Oral and Listening Comprehension Examinations. He has been a marker for the PSLE English Language papers. He has also set English Language examination papers in his own school. In 2019, he tutored 8 P6 students and they achieved 6As and 2Bs for PSLE. They maintained or improved by a grade from their Prelims. In 2020, 7 P6 students improved by 1-2 grades from CA1 to Prelims. All whom have been on online tuition since March 2020. Mr Yeo believes that online tuition has its merits and can be equally as effective as face-to-face tuition while at a lower cost which becomes a win-win situation for all. Mr Yeo’s personality and connection with the student transcends the online barrier and he always builds a great rapport with his students.

P6 EL - an improvement of 42% in 5 months from AL7 at 33% (WA2) to AL4 at 75%-79%. P6 EL - an improvement of 30% in 5 months from AL6 at 48% (WA2) to AL4 at 75%-79%. P6 Foundation Math - an improvement of 28% in about 4 months from AL6 at 63% to AL1 at 91%. P5 EL - an improvement of 41% from 63/95 to 89/95 (Paper 2) in 5 months. P5 Math - an improvement from 70% to 89% from WA1 to WA3 within 5 months. Marks have been maintained at above 80% since. P4 Math - an improvement of 19% in 12 lessons from AL6 at 54% to AL5 at 73%. P3 Math (Student with Dyscalculia) - an improvement of 31% in 3 months from AL6 at 45% to AL4 at 76%. P3 EL (Student with Global Developmental Delay) - an improvement of 60% in 2 months. Student made great progress from being unable to write a composition to successfully completing an entire composition by himself with a score of 60%.

Main subjects I teach: History, English, Literature, Economics I took the IB in Nov 2020. I took History, Literature and Economics at the Higher Level. I was a scholar in the MOE Humanities Scholarship Programme. I was also on the Dean's List for History and Literature in 2019.
