Hi, my name is Paul and my job is to help you improve your English and Math. I am from the UK, which is where I got my Degree in English language and literature from, and I’ve been working as an English and Math teacher here in Singapore for 10 years. Before completing my Degree course, I was an Engineer for 2 years. I have worked with all different ages across many different nationalities. By working in both tuition centers and international schools, I have learned many different ways of teaching, and have used them to create interesting, fun and engaging lessons, for kids and adults. Whatever your needs are, I am able to design, plan, prep and teach you the necessary criteria. Over the years, I’ve helped many children and adults, turning their weakest areas in English and Math, into one of their strengths I have worked with all major criteria revolving around the ages between 8 and 18, this covers PSLE, IGCSE, SAT and SSAT tests. I have students who go to UWC, SAS, SAIS, Dulwich college, etc and also local MOE schools. With my adult students, they provide me what it is they wish to improve on, and we work together in reaching their goals. Over the years, I have had many happy students who were able to reach their personal educational goals, but there is one in particular which stands out the most. I helped a Japanese man with his English for 3 years, as his company required him to obtain a certain level in his TOEIC test. If he failed, his whole family had to be relocated back to Japan. Not only did he pass, but he was promoted and was offered a new role in America. Some advice when learning English, don’t be too hard on yourself. You may set yourself goals which are way beyond your reach, for now. Instead, give yourself little goals to reach, such as: learning the lyrics to your favourite songs, or understand what’s being said in a movie you like. Learning a language is like a journey, take it and be amazed on what you discover.

Background: I have taught in a specialized creative writing school for more than two years. Currently, I work as a private tutor for students. I graduated from NTU with Honors in English Literature, achieving a Distinction. About Me: My main objective is to create an enjoyable learning process for all my students of all ages. I achieve this by incorporating creative writing activities into my lessons, which help students build a strong foundation in grammar and vocabulary, as well as develop an articulate and expressive writing style. By making learning creative and enjoyable, students are able to retain more of what they learn. In order to cater to each student's individual learning needs, I craft personalized lesson plans that take into consideration their learning styles, needs, and goals. Language is not just an academic subject; it is a lifelong skill that enables individuals to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. For this reason, the learning environment a child is in plays a vital role. I therefore also work closely with parents, providing guidance on how they can create a positive learning environment at home to further enhance their child's English language development. Regarding the class structure, there are three main components: 1. Creative writing activities to improve expression and writing abilities. These activities provide opportunities for students to practice expressing opinions and shaping their thoughts. This is beneficial for both advanced students, as it helps them develop an original writing style, and beginner students, as it helps them learn to express themselves clearly and eloquently. 2. Strengthening the student's foundation in grammar and vocabulary usage. 3. An academic focus, with weekly practices and exercises, allowing students to apply what they have learned and excel in school. I always aim to work WITH the student, at their own pace, in order to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. I offer two types of classes: private classes and peer support classes (2-3 students). Peer support classes provide a collaborative learning environment with more opportunities for students to express their opinions and learn from interactive writing.
